Lessons- What to expect

My lessons are conducted on a one-to-one basis and are thoughtfully tailored to each student's personality, learning style, goals and pace.

I believe in creating a joyful yet disciplined learning environment where students feel comfortable, supported and safe to receive constructive feedback. Just as importantly, I want every student to feel they have a teacher they can trust.

As students build their repertoire, I believe it is important to give them the space to grow at their own pace while still developing a strong classical foundation. Finding the right balance is an important part of every student's musical journey.

As a classically trained pianist, I also have a deep appreciation for Jazz and contemporary music. I encourage students to explore music beyond the classical repertoire, as it broadens their musical understanding and develops a wider range of skills.

Students who are interested are welcome to explore improvisation and music in Contemporary, Pop and Jazz styles. I also highly encourage learning pieces beyond examination syllabuses, allowing students to build a personal repertoire of music they genuinely enjoy.

I believe good teaching is built on clarity, trust and open communication. No question is ever too simple or too basic to ask - that is exactly what I am here for.

My students quickly learn that curiosity is a valuable part of learning. They are always welcome to ask questions, discuss ideas and deepen their understanding during lessons.

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
- Albert Einstein

While I would love to teach every student, my lessons are best suited for students and families who value a strong classical foundation and are committed to developing their pianistic skills with care and consistency.
I enjoy working alongside parents to support young children, "tweens" and teenagers in achieving their musical and examination goals.

I also welcome working adults who wish to continue learning despite busy schedules, helping them make steady and meaningful progress towards their own musical aspirations.
For adult students, lessons focus on practical and achievable musical goals, supported by detailed guidance on technique, interpretation and efficient practice methods so that every practice session is purposeful and rewarding.

Above all, I believe piano lessons should be a safe, enriching and joyful experience.
To me, that is the true essence of music- to bring comfort, joy and fulfilment to the human soul. It is also what has inspired me to continue teaching for over 20 years.

Whether your goal is to excel at your classical repertoire, explore music beyond examinations, or develop improvisation skills, I would be delighted to be part of your musical journey.

If you feel we may be a good fit, I warmly invite you to arrange a trial lesson. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know each other and discover whether we can make music together.
